War Driving (derived from the expression "War Dialing" in which over-caffienated geeks dial random telephone numbers in search for neat and strange computer systems) is a very popular sport.

(some of us don't call it War Driving, we call it Net Stumbling, because the whole "War" word carries nasty connotations).

Usually one person operates a notebook computer running NetStumbler or Kismet.

You can view other war drivers' data, search for your own access point, and upload your findings at wifimaps.com.
