The Public Conference Room is where we sometimes hang out and talk about projects. The conference room is accessable via Voice over IP and traditional land lines.

Dialing in over the Internet or Community Network
- ENUM/E164 (preferred - the quality is better, and it doesn't tie up our phone lines): by dialing +1 604 484 5289 x8600
Using SIP: 8600@mutual.bcwireless.net
Using IAX: iax/guest@mutual.bcwireless.net/8600
From FreeWorldDialup: **164 1 604 484 5289 x8600 (the prefix **164 will dial an E164.org number on FreeWorldDialup) or directly at fwd #261361
DIaling in through a traditional land line or cellular telephone
- Using a regular phone: +1 604 484 5289 x8600
- using a regular phone with out tying up a phone line: 1-604-628-4266 *013 1 604 484 5289, and then when connected dial extension 8600.
- Sip brokers pstn to enum gateway leaves the bcwireless lines free but still lets you use your land line.
Notes
- Some networks (notably Skype) do not pass touch tones properly. If you receive an "Invalid Extension" error, try again and enter the extension slowly and carefully.
- This is a public room, anyone can enter and anyone can record the calls.
- When you join the room an announcement is made to the IRC channel. If no one is in the conference, hang around for a few minutes and someone might pop in.
- Your caller ID name (not number) is seen by others in the IRC channel. If this bugs you can use extension 8601 instead, although we'd recommend you not block your caller ID since we'd like to know who's in the room too.
- o Hint: If your phone number is registered with E164.org you can adjust your White Pages entry to display a different name (especially useful for those with cell phones).
Conference commands
- Press * to hear the voice conference menu.
- o After pressing *, press 1 to mute/unmute yourself.
- Press # to hangup.
Frequently Asked Questions
It says a special event is happening?
If we are holding a special event, the conference room may be muted. This is so volunteers involved in the event can communicate without distraction, you are of course free to listen!
It says the room is locked?
If confidential information is being discussed the room may be locked. You should ask in the IRC channel and a conference admin will let you in if appropriate.
